Okay, so I am totally disgusted. First, because they have yet another idiotic reality show that we can do without and secondly, because I tuned in for a while to check it out. The show? The Search for the New Doll. My favourite part of last night's show was when many of the hopeful contestants who were auditioning puking their guts out because they caught some virus from one of the twinkies that started out on the show.
Funny as well, that The CW are now casting for a mother/daughter beauty contest.
I suppose I could ask when all of this will end but what a redundant question. If we keep watching this crap, they will continue to show it...

You've got the point. There's so much crap on TV because we want them. I tell you a story.
In Hungary before the change of the political system around '89 and '90, and even some years past that time, we had two TV channels that were organized officially by professionals who were appointed and hired by the government. So practically we saw what the politicians allowed to be seen. Is that sounds bad?
Well, it was pretty interesting. Sure we had some stupid politically influenced entertainment shows and the news were not quite right, but we could see through the political filter and we could avoid the futile programs. But the policy was to show valuable emissions. We only had two channels, but we could watch quality Hungarian, Polish, NDK... (and some pathetic soviet) programs. They weren't anything compared to Hollywood, HBO and BBC (British Broadcasting Coorporation), but we didn't know those. So there were no alternatives.
That's the interesting thing. If you don't have any alternatives, you will want some change, but you would possibly be ok with what you have currently.
So nowadays people here say, that today's TV is not good, even with the high selection of programs. In the past, it was good, because it was easy and comfortable, and we were forced to watch quality. And when people are forced to do something good, than it's not really bad...
Another thing to mention. The TV channels know, that we have an addiction to watch TV, so we will find the least ridiculous (or the most violent, whichever we like), and watch it. So if they can chose between quality without commerial opportunities, or insanity with commercials, guess which they will choose. And they know, we cannot push the magical shout down button. We only know the step forward and step backward buttons...
Thanks for dropping by Viktor! What you've said really hits the nail on the head.
Maybe we just have too many choices and that's the biggest problem.
